Dow Inc. to Produce Hand Sanitizer at Five Plants
Dow Inc. on Monday said four more of its plants around the world will begin producing hand sanitizer to help address shortages sparked by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Midland, Mich., materials science company said manufacturing sites in Michigan, West Virginia, Belgium and Brazil will join a plant in Germany(Nyheter) that is already producing hand sanitizer for donation to local health systems and government agencies.
Dow said it expects the five sites to produce more than 200 metric tons of hand sanitizer, equivalent to more than 880,000 eight-ounce bottles.
The company, which doesn’t typically produce hand sanitizer, said a large portion of the raw materials are readily available at its sites, and that it can produce a meaningful volume of sanitizer with little to no impact to normal operations.
