Bosch Says New Coronavirus Test Can Produce Reliable Results Within Hours

BERLIN-Robert Bosch GmbH said Thursday that its healthcare-technology unit Bosch Healthcare Solutions had developed a rapid test for Covid-19 that can produce reliable results within a few hours.
The German engineering company said the test, developed together with molecular diagnostics group Randox Laboratories Ltd., is one of the first fully automated molecular diagnostic tests in the world. The kit produces a result in accordance with World Health Organization requirements within two and a half hours, Bosch said.
“Time is one of the decisive factors in the fight against the coronavirus,” said Bosch Chief Executive Volkmar Denner in a statement. “The great advantage of our solution is a reliable, fast diagnosis obtained locally without any detours.”
Together with Randox, Bosch developed the test within six weeks, the company said. Bosch said it will be available in Germany(Nyheter) starting in April, to be followed by other markets in Europe(Nyheter) and elsewhere.
